“您好,这里是XX光缆公司,请问有什么可以帮您的?”……自打今天早上进办公室以后,电话就没停过,我是一手接电话,一手敲键盘,虽说现在金融危机正袭击全球,但好像对我们公司不太有影响,每天还是接不完的电话、订单,老板还不时地丢些新任务下来,照这样发展下去,估计“女超人”很快就要诞生了。没想到,说曹操曹操就到----“蔷薇啊,上次我们接洽的MR.Williams终于下单了,这可是个大客户啊,这笔生意做成了,对我们公司来说是质的飞跃啊。不过,对方要求我们的货要通过UL认证,你尽快整理份关于UL线材认证的材料给我”。
……UL认证是什么?这个词对于我这个才入行的新人来说是彻底陌生的(见识太少,大家不要笑我啊)。空想没用,还是去百度一下吧。别说,网上的资源还真多,不经意间看到有一个UL之窗的论坛,名字里有UL,应该能找到我想找的东西吧。进去找了下,还真被我找到了,原来UL认证是美国的一项产品质量检测标准,要想出口产品到美国,一般都要通过此项认证。我们公司是生产光缆的,我就重点搜了一下UL线材认证方面的资料,发现根据线材规格的不同,相对应的UL标准也是不尽相同的。现针对我公司主要生产地光缆方面向大家简单介绍一下相对应的UL标准。
UL光纤线缆标准是依照美国国家电工法规NEC(NationalElectricalCode),将线缆分为主要两类:一为不带导电金属组件或材质,一为含导电组件;此外,依照光纤的布线环境及燃烧等级,可分为如下两种型号:PlenumFlameTest和RiserFlameTest。
目前UL是采用UL1651标准进行光纤线缆的安规结构及测试标准,不过其并未规范光纤及光纤披覆层的材质,而是以燃烧测试,即电缆线是否有延烧的可能性,来验证光纤电缆铺设于通讯环境中是否符合安全条件。此外,UL1651并不包含光纤性能测试,以及带电流的导体的相关测试。
主要检测范围如下:
A.Theserequirementscoversingleandmultipleoptical-fibercablesforcontrol,signaling,andcommunicationsasdescribedinArticle770andotherapplicablepartsoftheNationalElectricalCode(NEC).
Cablescomplyingwiththeserequirementsare:
TypeOFNP-Plenum-Anonconductivecableforuseinducts,plenums,andotherspacesusedforenvironmentalair.Anonconductivecablecontainsnometallicmembersandnootherelectricallyconductivematerials.
TypeOFCP-Plenum-Aconductivecableforuseinducts,plenums,andotherspacesusedforenvironmentalair.Aconductivecablecontainsnon-current-carryingconductivememberssuchasmetalstrengthmembersandmetallicvaporbarriers.
TypeOFNR-Riser-Anonconductivecableforverticaluseinshaftsorfromfloortofloor.
TypeOFCR-Riser-Aconductivecableforverticaluseinshaftsorfromfloortofloor.
TypeOFNandOFNG-GeneralPurpose-Nonconductivecablesforgeneralpurposeuse.
TypeOFCandOFCG-GeneralPurpose-Conductivecablesforgeneralpurposeuse.
B.Smokeandfireconsiderationsareasfollowsforthecablescoveredintheserequirements:
a)TYPEOFNPandOFCPCABLES?Cablesthatareintendedforinstallationinaccordancewithsection770-53(a)oftheNationalElectricalCode(ANSI/NFPA70-1993)inaduct,plenum,orotherspaceusedtotransportenvironmentalairwithoutthecablebeingenclosedinaracewayinthatspacearetestedforsmokeandflamecharacteristicsinaccordancewiththeTestforFlame-PropagationandSmoke-DensityValuesforElectricalandOptical-FiberCablesUsedinSpacesTransportingEnvironmentalAir(UL910).Acablethatcompliesexhibitsamaximumflame-propagationdistancethatisnotgreaterthan5ft,0inor152cm,apeakopticaldensityofsmokeproducedof0.50orless(32percentlighttransmission),andanaverageopticaldensityofsmokeproducedof0.15orless.
b)TYPEOFNRandOFCRCABLES?Cablesthatareintendedforuseinverticalrunsinashaft,orpenetratingmorethanonefloor,inaccordancewithsection770-53(b)oftheNationalElectricalCode(ANSI/NFPA70-1993)aretestedforflame-propagationcharacteristicsinaccordancewiththeTestforFlamePropagationHeightofElectricalandOptical-FiberCablesInstalledVerticallyinShafts(UL1666).Acablethatcomplieshasaflame-propagationheightlessthan12ft,0inor366cmandhasatemperatureof850.0EF(454.4EC)orlessataheightof12ft,0inor366cm.
c)TYPEOFN,OFNG,OFC,orOFCGCABLES?TypeOFNorOFCcablesthatareintendedforinstallationinaccordancewithsection770-53(c)or(d)oftheNationalElectricalCode(ANSI/NFPA701993)complywitha70,000Btu/h(20.5kW)vertical-trayflametestthat,atthecablemanufacturer'soption,iseitherofthefollowing.
1)TheULtestdescribedin9.3and9.4oftheserequirements.ThisULtestisessentiallythesameasthetestdescribedinANSI/IEEE383-l974(R1982).
2)TheCSAFT4testasdescribedin9.5oftheserequirements.ThistestdiffersfromtheIEEEandULtestsinloading(morecablesareused,withsmallcablesbundled,andthespacingbetweencablesorbundlesislimited),burnerangle,andfailurecriterion.
TypeOFCGandOFNGcablesmustcomplywiththeCSAFT4test.
C.CablescoveredintheserequirementsarenotrequiredbytheNECtobeusedinraceway.Thesecablesarecapableofusewithoutthephysicalprotectionofracewaybutmaybepulledintoconduitorinstalledinotherraceway.
D.Theserequirementsdonotcovercablesthatcontaincurrent-carryingconductors.Requirementsforcablesthatcontainelectricalandopticalfibermembersarefoundintheapplicablestandardfortheelectricalcable.
E.Theserequirementsdonotcovertheopticalperformanceofthecable.
F.Aproductthatcontainsfeatures,characteristics,components,materials,orsystemsnewordifferentfromthoseinusewhentheStandardwasdeveloped,andthatinvolvesariskoffireorinjurytopersons,shallbeevaluatedusingtheappropriateadditionalcomponentandend-productrequirementsasdeterminednecessarytomaintainthelevelofsafetyfortheuseroftheproductasoriginallyanticipatedbytheintentofthisStandard.
